What I’ve Loved In 2018.

Books

Turtles all the way down – John Green
I’ve done a review of this book already which you can read here. This was actually one of my first reads of the year, and despite having reservations about it, I really enjoyed it. Did I love the story? And all of the characters? Not entirely. However, I loved the representation of mental illness, when trying to explain my anxiety to my mum, I actually read the passage about thought spirals.

A Court Of Thorns and Roses Series
Ask me to pick one book series to read over and over again, and I will probably pick this one for the foreseeable future. I’ve also done a post about this too, but I will certainly say that this was by far my most favourite read of last year!

Trips

Vancouver
If you asked me to pick one highlight of the year, it may well be this. Vancouver honestly felt like a home away from home as soon as I stepped foot off the plane. I truly didn’t want to come home and I am more than ready to go back. I’ve got a post coming out soon all about why I loved Vancouver so much, but if you get the chance to go, I urge you to please, please go and experience the magic that is Vancouver.

SPN Conventions
This sort of goes hand in hand with the above point, but last year I attended my first two conventions. First came SPNUK in Birmingham and then came SPNVAN in Vancouver. I’ve never felt so at home or with my kind of people than at a Supernatural Convention. I honestly can’t wait for Toronto this year!

Hamilton
This was the only musical I saw last year, but it was ah-maz-ing!! Like I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t realise it was going to be THAT good. I would love to see it again this year, but I’m not sure I’d be able to justify that kind of money for a ticket when there’s so many new shows I’d love to see.

Beauty and Skincare

Goldwell Shampoo and Conditioner
I’ve used these two for over a year now, and I would never use anything else. I’ve struggled with my hair thinning and falling out for a few years now, but this is as close to a miracle cure as you’re gonna find. My hair looks and feels immediately thicker when I use it, plus it smells absolutely amazing!

CT Lipsticks
Last year was the year that I really started to look into adding some Charlotte Tilbury staples into my very small makeup collection. I love the formula of these lipsticks, and they honestly do not budge! My favourite shades from this year are definitely Opium Nior and Bond Girl. I’ll for sure be adding more to my collection this year!

Sanctuary
There’s something about the Sanctuary products that I just really like. I think they are one of the only high street body brands that feels high end. Their bath float is one of my favourite products but I love their wet moisturise and their shower gels. I think these will be staples in my bathroom for many many years to come.

GHOST Fragrance
There’s not much else I can say about this than I used to wear it all the time and I switched it out of my collection a little while ago but was ecstatic when I rediscovered it last year. It’s the kind of fragrance that I like to wear day and night, it’s the one that always reminds me of myself, if that makes sense, me in a fragrance for sure.

Diprobase
This might seem like an odd one, but hear me out. I had a reaction to some medication a couple months ago which made my skin really dry out. Like, I woke up every morning like a lizard shedding its skin, it was horrible. I tried every single moisturiser out there and this was the only one that made a dent. It gave my skin the huge hit of moisture it needed and I haven’t stopped using it since, even though my skin is much better. If you’re looking for something that is going to stop your dry skin during the next few really cold months, I would definitely recommend this!

Film and TV

Christopher Robin
I do not often cry at films, I could probably count the films that have made me cry on one hand. But this one, this one got me. I went to see this in the cinema and I full on bawled my eyes out. It’s such a heartwarming, sweet, amazing film. Before I saw it, I will admit that I was a little weary about the whole film, purely because I’m such a big Winnie the Pooh fan. But I don’t think they could have done any better with it. If you haven’t, for sure you need to watch this.

The King and I
Now, this is a musical but I saw the cinema viewing so I don’t count it as a theatre viewing. That being said, I would jump at the chance to see this in the theatre, I was blown away from a cinema seat, let alone a theatre chair. Having only seen and heard the music from the animated version of this, I didn’t really have any idea what to expect. The acting, the staging, the dancing, the singing, all of it was phenomenal!

Sherlock
I KNOW, I know I’m late to the party, please do not hate me. I binged this in December and I’m not sure why I left it quite so long. I find myself wanting to watch this all the time, and I need more, I’m so sad that there isn’t more for me to feast on. If you haven’t, do not make the mistake of not watching it immediately.

Bits and Bobs

Nintendo Switch
I got this for my birthday a few years ago and this is still one of my most favourite things. I was so excited about this when it was first announced and I am still just as excited about it now. I love the games that have been released so far, but I don’t think we’ve seen even half of what the switch is truly capable of yet. I think that this year we’re just going to see more and more triumphs this year.

SPN Diary
I love a good notebook or diary, stationery is one of my downfalls because I just need to have it all, especially when I don’t need it. As soon as I saw this, I just knew that I needed it in my life, and one of my very amazing American friends ordered this for me and delivered it to me in Vancouver. This is a great diary, and I love the layout of it, definitely what I look for in a planner, and I adore that I get to show off my love for Supernatural too.

Windows Surface
This was my birthday present last year and I am never without it. If you’ve noticed the increase in blog posts, it’s because of this. I love that I am able to whip up and work on blog posts while I’m out and about yet I don’t have to carry a super heavy laptop around with me. If I could only have one electronic device for the rest of my life, it would be this, without question.
