We Told Six Lies – Victoria Scott

This is for sure up my alley I think. Secrets, mysteries, twists and turns, it sounds like it’s got it all. I really enjoyed Scott’s Fire and Flood, so I’m sure I will love this book too. From what I can guess, someone has gone missing and while someone is trying to find her, the police are also looking at them in connection to the disappearance. Sounds like it’s going to be a corker really!
I Owe You One – Sophie Kinsella

I won’t lie, I want this purely because its a Kinsella novel. I’m not usually one for more fluffy books, but there’s something about the Kinsella ones that I just really enjoy. This seems like the perfect meet randomly in a coffee shop and eventually fall in love story, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
The Couple – Sarah Mitchell
February 5th
This just sounds like your good ol’ fashioned mystery. Man and girl want to buy a house, girls see’s guy she used to know, crosses a line, can’t trust either guy, maybe even herself. I feel like this is probably going to be a quick read for me, seeing as I typically devour these books in a few days.
The Editor – Steven Rowley

This book intrigues me like you know when you just know a book is either going to be a huge hit or a huge miss? I think this might be one of those. All about a guy trying to publish his book, who becomes friendly with the editor of a publishing house. She wants him to write an authentic ending to his autobiographical novel and tells him to go home and write it, but turns out there might be more in it for her than expected.
Again, But Better – Christine Riccio
May 7th
I love a good book the is set/revolves around college or university. I’m not sure why exactly, but there’s something about them that I just really enjoy. I feel like we’ll follow the protagonist on her journey of self-discovery and acceptance, which may be one of the things I love most about these sort of books. I think it’s because I always find the main character, as well as the experiences, very relatable.
Romanov – Nadine Brandes

It comes as no big surprise to anyone that I am a bit of a nerd. And when I was in the peak of my nerdiness, I absolutely adored History at school. A huge history nerd, if you will. One of my favourite periods (and trust me there were a few) to learn about was Russia. This probably stems from my obsession with the movie Anastasia from when I was young. So when I recently saw this book about Anastasia having to smuggle a spell to Siberia before the leader of the Bolshevik army catches up with her, I was sold. This is already pre-ordered and I have very very high hopes.
Ever Alice – H. J. Ramsay
August 1st
There’s something about story retellings that I’m quite liking lately, and I think this is why I’m so drawn to this book. Instead of being a direct retelling of Alice in Wonderland, it actually occurs after. We find Alice in an asylum and her only shot at freedom is taking part in an experiment. When she decides not to go through with it, she follows the White Rabbit back to wonderland. Having read the description of this book, I’m getting very similar vibes to the Tim Burton remake. Which I didn’t hate as much as everyone else seemed to, so I’m hoping that this is going to be as good as I’m thinking it might be.
Things You Save In A Fire – Katherine Center
August 13th
I’m not really sure what to make of this, but it’s about a female firefighter who moves to Boston for her mum. We see Cassie as she starts this new journey and has to deal not only with a new firehouse and a new team, but she might also find herself falling for another firefighter, something she didn’t ever see herself doing.
Pumpkinheads – Rainbow Rowell
August 27th
I’m a very big fan of Rainbow Rowell, so this is a bit of a no brainer really! I’m very intrigued by the fact that this is a graphic novel too, I’m excited to add a few more of those to my collection this year. From what I can tell, it’s about two school kids who work on a pumpkin patch together every year. So we follow them on their last adventure together, before leaving school. I think this is going to be very cutesy and heartfelt, but I’ve no doubt it will probably make me want to cry at some point too.
Crescent City – Sarah J Maas
Late 2019
Sarah J Maas is one of my favourite authors, I love her characters and I think she has an amazing way of building a world that is fully immersive. I’m excited that a new book is coming from her at some point this year. Humans, demons, angels, shifters, and a journey that could end with destroying their world? I’m sold. I cannot wait to delve into another series that will, no doubt, have a badass heroine that I will devour!
