What Is IBD? – Blogvember 2016.

I was diagnosed with IBD little over 6 months ago so in no way do I claim to know everything there is to know about it. However, I’ve since discovered that people don’t often know what IBD is and confuse it with other diseases’ myself included. So I thought it might be nice to have something for people to read that can educate people on what IBD is and how it can affect different people that wasn’t filled with too many long words.
I think one of the most common misconceptions surrounding IBD is that it is a form of IBS which is not true. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is something that can be ‘fixed’ by getting rid of the food or substance that you digestive system does not agree with. While some of the symptoms are very similar, for example having an upset tummy or stomach pains, it is by no means the same thing. Irritable Bowel Disease is classed as a chronic illness, this is just a fancy way of saying that there is no cure and you’ll almost definitely have to live with it for the rest of your life. As I’ve said, some of the symptoms can be very similar however IBD can, in very extreme cases, be life threatening.
There are two types of IBD – Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease. They both cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract but what differs between the two is the severity and just how much of your body it affects. Ulcerative Colitis only affects the colon (also known as the large intestine), whereas Crohn’s can affect the whole of your digestive system from your mouth to the anus. This means that of the two, Crohn’s is typically seen as the most severe.
There are a few symptoms that you can look out for, including stomach pain, recurring or bloody diarrhoea, weight loss, and extreme tiredness. However not everyone will experience these symptoms and some people even experience things like vomiting, anaemia or a fever. It is also hard to catch because the symptoms can come and go, you may experience a flare-up where the symptoms are extremely bad or you may go through a long period where you may have little or no symptoms at all, where you would be classed as being in remission.
Having a chronic illness affects everybody differently. People like to assume that because you take your medication or because they have a friend who has the same thing and is fine that you are fine. What I like to tell people is that you will never find two people who suffer in exactly the same way. For example, someone could be the exact copy of me on paper, take their meds everyday and carry on their life with no problems. However, even though I take my meds every day, I struggle with my concentration, engaging with people and extreme fatigue. Just because something worked for someone you know, does not mean by any means that it is going to definitely work for you. People need to realise that just because you look okay, don’t always mean you are. There are a lot of things that aren’t ‘fixed’ by simply taking your meds. Some meds can even present new side effects or make existing ones worse.
IBD is nothing to joke about because it can be potentially life threatening. However, there is amazing support out there and the best way I’ve found to deal with it, is by being as open and honest with people. If you want more information, the best place to start is on the Crohn’s and Colitis website. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below and I’ll try to answer them. I’ll be doing a few more posts about IBD in the future, especially considering that it is Crohn’s and Colitis awareness week during the first week in December.

Favourite Musical Soundtrack.

I absolutely adore a good musical! I’ll sit and happily watch musicals for hours upon hours. There’s something magical about musicals, when everyone comes together to see something amazing and feel something, well thats just amazing. I’m often found listening to the soundtrack to musicals while I’m doing uni work or when I need something to help me relax; I’ll lay in bed and listen to a musical soundtrack. So I’ve listed below some of my all time favourites, they include a mix of movie adaptations as well as stage recordings.
Les Miserables
This is one of my absolute favourite musicals of all time. I’ve tried numerous times to read the book but it’s ridiculously long so I’ve not quite mastered it yet. Set during the French Revolution, we see the story of Jean ValJean and his journey from inmate to mayor to father. We experience love, loss and war all in the space of a few very intense hours. Honestly, I have yet to watch the movie adaptation because I didn’t want to spoil to fond memories I had of seeing it on stage, but I’m more and more intrigued to see it so I’ve definitely put it on my list of films to see before the end of the year. I’ve included my two favourite songs from the album I usually listen to; which is the 25th Anniversary London Cast.

Bonnie & Clyde
This musical obviously tells the story of Bonnie & Clyde. As far as I’m aware, this hasn’t been performed in the UK yet, but I can’t wait until it is! I won’t lie, the main reason I listened to this is because Jeremy Jordan plays Clyde and I absolutely adore him. I really love the sound of the whole soundtrack but I definitely have a few favourites.

Rent
This was probably one of the first movie musicals I really watched and fell in love with. The story is about 8 people who are all, in some way, struggling artists. It teaches us about how having friends and a happy life is more important than having money. I can easily listen to the soundtrack back to front, all of the songs are very easy to hum along to and I often find myself humming them for days after I’ve watched them. I’ve included the actual movie scenes below and I’m sure you’ll recognise some of the faces that pop up.

The Last Five Years
This is another Jeremy Jordan one and I’m not in any way sorry for that. I first heard about this when the movie adaptation was released a few years ago. I went into it knowing absolutely nothing about the story and loved it. I’ll warn you now though, there is almost no speaking it in, yes that means that the entire film is made up almost entirely of songs. I have no problem with that, but I know when I sat down to watch it with my mum she got a little fed up with the constant singing. But if you love musical movies I definitely urge you to watch it.

Wicked
This just had to be on the list didn’t it?! Even if you haven’t seen it, you’ve definitely heard about it! I’ve seen the UK production and it was fantastic. I love everything about it, the story, the set and obviously the music. Even if you’ve not seen it, you’ll probably recognise some of their big hits.

She Loves Me
This is a new one in my collection. Why has it squirmed into my favourites them? It has Zachary Levi in it. I’m still not 100% sure what the story is, but the music is fantastic none the less. I end up singing them for days after I’ve listened to them because they are very catchy. They also have a song called ‘The Twelve Days Of Christmas’ which obviously helped sell it to me!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBmDI3dOjeo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIHXj5yPBhg
Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowedmilk Live
Okay so this isn’t technically a musical, however it has lots of well known stage actors singing different songs from smaller, low-key musicals. I can easily listen to this album on repeat for days.

Are there any other musicals you absolutely love and think that I should check out, let me know if the comments below.

Sunday Chats – Blogvember 2016.

I’ve been pondering for a while with doing Sunday Chats as a way to check in and reflect on what I’ve been up to and during Blogvember seems the perfect excuse to start. I’m currently sat with the heater on full blast, candle lit and christmas music playing softly so my housemate doesn’t come and tell me off.
This week has been all over the place honestly. I’ve had the week off from uni, which while in theory is great, it’s suddenly made me very conscious of the fact that assignments are due soon. Panic! That being said, I’ve not really done much in the way of getting ahead of the game. I’ve been quite unsettled this week and I’m not sure why. So I’ve had a week to just chill. I’ve submerged myself in replaying the Crash Bandicoot games, watched Bridget Jones’ Baby which I have to say is super funny! I watched it on my own at the beginning of the week and then I made my housemate watch it with me a few nights ago. On Wednesday I went out for a few drinks with some friends which was lovely because I haven’t done that in a while. I think because I haven’t done much this week has felt like its dragged but I’m happy it’s the weekend because that means Strictly!!
Next week will be much more productive, I’m going to spend a few days in the library hopefully killing my assignments, going to my lectures but the thing I’m really looking forward to this week is going to see the christmas lights being turned on in town. Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely adore christmas, and after the lights have been turned on I’m going to crack out the christmas films and play every christmas album I own extremely loud. I’m also going home at the weekend because I’ve got an hospital appointment with my GI consultant. Fingers crossed everything’s okay because I’m getting some important test results back. I’m excited to see everyone again, even though it’s not even been a month since I last saw them, I miss them all terribly! Including my dog, Stan, I cannot wait for cuddles!! Here’s hoping to a better week!

Let me know what you got up to this week and if you have any exciting plans coming up? Also is anyone else as excited as I am for christmas?

My 'Go-Bag' – Blogvember 2016.

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
So I have something I like to call a ‘go-bag’. After having a few encounters over the summer where I ended up getting admitted to hospital, I found it was much easier to have a bag that was always ready just in case my mum had to go home and grab me a few necessities. It saved her hunting around for them and instead of trying to explain were something was over the phone, she could literally just pick up the bag. So I thought I’d give you a run down of everything I packed because I found it interesting to see what others who packed bags like this chose and I had no idea what to include and what was pointless to pack and posts I read like this really helped.

Probably the most important thing in this whole bag is the little pouch that includes all my hospital documents. I had quite a few occasions where the hospital lost my notes or my file and had no idea, so carrying my own copy around with me helped to speed things up and the doctors were usually very thankful for it. It includes all of my discharge letters for the last year, a list of the medication I’m on as well as some of the previous ones I’ve been on and letters from my consultant about my condition. A charger is something that I never thought about because I never really thought that I’d be in hospital long enough for my phone to die, but on two separate occasions check up appointments ended up with me being admitted. If thats ever happened to you, you’ll know that it usually involves lots of waiting around. I like to take a book just in case I’m in the mood to read which usually doesn’t happen but I pack a book that I’ve been waiting to read for a while but one that hasn’t jumped off my shelf at me, because then I can kind of forget about it in my bag and then I’ll get excited when I see it in there. The other thing I take is a puzzle book. Not only do they help to pass the time, but they keep your brain stimulated. I can tend to be quite slow in the mornings and I find doing some sort of puzle book helps get my brain going. Sitting in a hospital bed or waiting room staring at the walls is no fun, so this tends to keep me occupied.

I always carry a little toiletries bag with me, because I always feel better when I’ve freshened myself up. I usually have a travel toothbrush and toothpaste in here, but I used them when I went to New York in July and seemed to have misplaced them, so this is almost like a reminded that I need new ones. In the same sort of category, I make sure that I carry mouthwash, because if I do, for whatever reason, forget toothpaste at the very least I’m able to freshen my mouth. I take deodorant and wipes because you never know how long you’re going to be in for and there isn’t always a shower that you can easily get to on your ward. Hand lotion, anti-bacterial gel, a hairbrush and lip balm are things that usually tend to be in my handbag but I like to pack these extra ones just in case for some reason I don’t have a handbag with me.
I also like to take some moisturiser with me because I have very dry skin and hospitals tends to dry it out even more, so i usually put some into little pots that I know will tide me over for a while. I like to take sanitary towels, because again you never know when you might end up staying in and while hospitals will of course be stocked to help with that little ladies situation, sometimes it can be embarrassing to ask or you might be like me and only like certain brands. Finally in this little selection is herbal tea. I’m not really allowed to drink regular tea, expect for the odd mug, but I enjoy the comfort a hot drink brings so I often take a few packets of herbal tea because hospitals don’t often have any.

Hospital gowns are by far not the most comfortable of stylish thing to wear during your stay, so I like to avoid it where possible. I always have at least one extra pair of underwear and socks because I know that will cover me for at least a day until I can get more. I always pack a yoga bra because they are so much more comfortable to wear than normal bras and when staying in hospital, comfort is all you strive for. I try and make sure I have a pair of pyjamas packed that are thin but long enough to keep me warm. I tend to overheat very quickly but in the evenings hospitals can get cold very quickly. So although I don’t pack it, I usually get my mum to grab a hoodie for me, just in case I want to pop outside for some fresh air or pop down to the shop. Also, as you can see, I take a pair of thick warm socks because my feet seem to be the part of me that gets coldest the quickest. I’ll also take leggings and a long comfortable top. This, again, is mainly because I want to be comfortable. Chances are even when you get told you’ll be discharged, you’re going to be waiting around for a good few hours to actually be given your paperwork and any medication you need. So comfort is the aim of our game.
If for some reason I’m going to be staying for longer than a night then I usually end up giving my mum a little list of extra things to bring with her, such as my laptop and a pillow from my bed. But this is the basics that I pack with me ready for a sudden sleep over at the hospital. Do you have a ‘go-bag’, if so what do you always make sure to pack. If not, would you ever consider doing it? Let me know in the comments down below!

Nakd Box -Blogvember 2016

Not a day goes by where I do not end up hunting for some sort of snack. My favourite snack to reach for are these bars by Nakd. After having a browse on their website I found that you could buy a selection box and I thought that would be a fab way of trying out all the other flavours! It was a very speedy delivery and I was surprised to find they had included two of their Trek bars for me to try too. I actually really enjoyed them despite not being a huge coconut fan but I will definitely be picking them up in the future.

First, I just want to comment on the actual box it comes in. It is so so cute! I love the little bee that you find when you’ve finished the box. I’m a sucker for cute animal illustrations so this definitely impressed me even more. But anyway, on to the actual contents of the box.

Okay, so I didn’t even know that Nakd did raisins but apparently it’s a thing and I won’t lie, I’m not mad about it! I’m a fan of raisins and I love these flavours, as sad as it sounds it just makes them a bit more excited. The ‘Crazy Cola’ flavour I thought sounded a bit peculiar because cola flavoured things are not always great but ended up being my favourite! I couldn’t eat the oat bars but I ended up passing them onto my housemates so they weren’t wasted, from what I’ve heard they’ve been very much enjoyed.

I quite liked these ones, the added crunch was nice! My favourite was the ‘Banana Crunch’, I love banana flavoured things so I think this was always going to be a win in my books. However, for some reason I found this variety to be slightly more dry than the normal bars but they were nice regardless. What I really like about Nakd bars is that they use all natural sugars and flavours so I don’t have to worry about anything processed being added. Also, the back of each one tells you exactly how much of everything is in that bar and it never fails to surprise me how few ingredients there are.

My favourites by far are the good ol’ original bars, no fuss, not fancy, just great flavours. The one I’m reaching for most right now is a new release that isn’t pictured; ‘Bakewell Tart’. I love a good bakewell tart but because of the pastry I can’t eat them and I’ve yet to find an amazing gluten-free one, but this satisfies my craving amazingly. It tastes exactly like eating a bakewell tart and I couldn’t be more thankful to the amazing person who created this particular flavour, I’ll forever be in you debt. In a very close second is the ‘Cocoa Delight’, I kid you not tastes exactly like a chocolate bar! I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into it, thinking it was going to have that ‘fake’ chocolate taste that I find ‘healthy chocolate’ has, but it didn’t. I’ve slowly been building up a collection of these two flavours so I can safely say I won’t run out for months.
I will definitely be grabbing this box again, I think its such a great idea as a taster box and I really enjoyed everything (I could eat) that came in it. They certainly didn’t last long but I know I’ll be reaching into my snack cupboard and grabbing a Nakd bar for many months to come. You can grab your own box here, and if you do, leave me a comment down below to let me know which your favourite flavours were.

Carluccio's – Gluten Free Review.

I’ve missed a post this week so I thought I’d drop this one in to make up for it. I’ve been eating gluten-free for around three months now. I’ve been very lucky in the sense that I’ve yet to not find an alternative to something I used to eat. However, something I do struggle with is eating out. There definitely aren’t as many places offering gluten-free menus as I had hoped there would be, or perhaps I’m just not looking in the right places. Nevertheless, I had my mum come down to visit me a few weekends ago and we decided to pop out for dinner. Our go-to restaurant was full and a few other places we tried could only offer us a menu that had ‘low gluten’ options which is enough to send a shiver down the spine of anyone who doesn’t eat gluten. Then we stumbled across Carluccio’s. We’d never eaten there before, and they had a whole gluten-free menu as well as a dairy-free one too! I was surprised by the variety of dishes of offer and was really spoilt for choice.
Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
To start I went with the bruschetta. I absolutely love tomatoes so I always go for a bruschetta if its on offer. I was a little underwhelmed by the fact it seemed to be just a standard slice of gluten free bread but it was lovely regardless. The bruschetta itself had a lovely taste to it and the only thing I needed was more of it!
Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
The main was definitely the winner for me! I don’t think I’ve ever eaten gluten-free pasta that tasted this nice. After debating between this Duck Ragu and the Risotto, which I will definitely be going back to try, I’m sure I made the right choice. The pasta was amazing, the duck was so tender, it literally melted in your mouth. If I could I would have taken enough home with me to feed me for weeks.

I love dessert but the only time I ever really have it is when I’m out, so I was super excited to see that there was a nice selection of desserts on the menu. This was absolutely lovely, however personally, I thought there was too much meringue and not enough passion fruit cream. That being said I still demolished it, but I would definitely only recommend it if you like things that are extremely sweet.

To round off the meal I got a hot chocolate. Personally I found it was a tad too thick for me, but it had a lovely flavour, definitely no too chocolatey. I also really like the way you get to stir in the cream yourself and watch it change colour. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed vibe even though they were full which I absolutely loved. The staff were so friendly and answered all the questions I asked about the menu. There’s also the chance to buy from the Carluccio’s shop which is on your left as you walk in. I was very tempted to buy a few of the cakes and pastries they had on offer, but unfortunately I couldn’t eat any of them but they all looked as though they would have been delicious.
So if you’re looking for somewhere to go that offers gluten-free of dairy-free alternatives then I would definitely recommend Carlussio’s. You can find a link to their normal menu here and their alternative menu here. Have you found anywhere new that you love eating? Let me know in the comments below.

Favourite Supernatural Episodes – Blogvember 2016.

I know I was supposed to be posting every other day, but life happens and I got ill but it’s here now, have no fear, for the Winchester’s are here!
So  Supernatural has started up again in the US and from what I’ve heard its shaping up to be a great new season, so I thought I’d give you all a run down of my absolute favourite episodes to tide us over until we can get our hands on it.
French Mistake  6×15

tumblr_newuxlBl2l1twnktzo2_500
tumblr

This may just be my favourite episode because it is hilarious. The boys get sent essentially  to ‘our world’, they play themselves playing the parts of Sam and Dean. Seeing the boys try to act is quite possibly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. You almost forget that theres a point to the episode because its so funny.
Baby 11×04
tumblr_inline_o3zyrj4YOW1ruun43_500
tumblr

I love the way this episode is filmed. The whole episode basically revolves around the Winchesters’ car, otherwise known as ‘Baby’. It takes on a very different feel to the other episodes but that is nothing to worry about. If anything its interesting to see a few ‘chick-flick’ moments that Dean hates so much because we wouldn’t typically see these. We understand that Baby is just as much a part of the family as Dean and Sam are brothers.

This episode is another of the more comical ones. Dean gets infected with ghost sickness and it soon becomes clear that the previous people infected have died from fear. We see Dean becoming increasingly scared throughout the episode and questioning why him and his brother do what they do when it’s so scary. I find myself laughing every time I watch this episode because Dean is so dramatic when he’s scared which is the polar opposite to his normal persona.
Fan Fiction 10×05
1416603481494261_animate

This episode was fantastic because it broke down the fourth wall by having Dean and Sam visit a high school who were performing a musical based on the supernatural books written in the show. There are a lot of points mentioned that have been debated or talked endlessly about in the Supernatural community, including the relationship between Dean and Castiel and the bond the two brothers have. It’s a fun little episode that sort of sums up exactly what Supernatural is about at its core and how much the fans love the show and what they mean to the Supernatural community.
Dog Dean Afternoon 9×05

Another funny episode (I see a trend occurring) where the only witness during a case is a dog. Somehow Dean ends up being able to communicate with animals which is just hilarious to watch. This episode has me in stitches every time!
Death’s Door 7×10

Okay this is a sad one! As in ball-my-eyes-out-ugly-crying sad. This is the episode that *spoiler alert* Bobby dies. Bobby is by far one of my favourite characters in the whole show, I love how he fits into the father role for Dean and Sam. He is also absolutely hilarious so I was very very sad to see him go. Why is this a favourite episode if its so sad? Because it’s done so well. I often find that character deaths in TV shows tend to go one of two ways. They are either to dramatic and over the top that you just roll your eyes, or they happen very quickly and are kind of glossed over. This sits very nicely in the middle, you don’t really know it’s going to happen until it happens but it’s meaningful and touching and ripples throughout other seasons.
Swan Song 5×22

Well to start with season five was probably one of my favourite season’s, because we really got to explore the dynamic between the brothers. I really like the fact that this episode is narrated by chuck, in fact thats probably why I enjoy it so much. Throughout the episode we learn just how important the brothers love for each other is and I love the flashbacks of the boys in the impala playing with army men and drawing their initials into the car. There is nothing in this entire episode that I don’t like, it might just be my favourite season finale of the whole series so far!!

5 Things You Should Know About Me + Blogvember 2016.

As much as love writing and blogging, while getting back into the swing of things at university I’ve let it slide a little bit. It isn’t that I haven’t had any ideas because I’ve got a notebook full of them, but with the amount of writing and reading I have to do on my course, when I have a spare moment to sit down with my laptop, I just can’t bring myself to get stuck in.
So, as a way to try and rectify this, I’ve decided to do Blogvember. I will be posting every other day throughout November, starting today and ending on the 29th. That means I’m going to have to be on the ball to deliver 15 posts that at least makes some sort of sense! I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’m hoping that it will help me get back into the swing of blogging. Who knows maybe it’ll even lead to me doing Blogmas, we all know that I can talk about christmas until the cows come home. Now onto the fun bit, here are 5 things I think you should know about me.
1. I hate being late
I absolutely hate being late and hate when other people are late. I just don’t understand how people can happily turn up 15 minutes after an agreed time. I’m one of those people who like to turn up 10 minutes early to everything, and I can’t stand when people end up making you late because they decide to get in the shower 5 minutes before you’re supposed to leave! (Real story – my housemate is particularly good at this, so I now tell him we need to be somewhere half an hour before we actually have to be!)

2. My skincare/makeup routine doesn’t really warrant being called a routine
I have tried, I promise. I’ve have night creams and night oils and face masks and everything else under the sun in the hopes that it’ll somehow get me into some routine but it never does. Honestly, I’m too lazy to have any kind of routine, when I’m tired I literally just fall into bed and go to sleep. Some people spend up to 20 minutes in the morning putting on make-up, applying creams and oils and masks and whatever else and frankly I don’t have time. I barely ever wear make up and I’m lucky if I remember to apply my moisturiser before I leave the house! Plus the time spent applying it all and then taking it off could be spent eating, I know which I’d rather be doing.

3. I love dogs
100% a dog person. Sorry not sorry! Theres just something about dogs that make me happy. My dog at home is the actual sweetest, I miss him an unnatural amount when I’m at university, to the point where I’ve asked my dad numerous times to bring him to visit, for some reason the answer always seems to be no. If you don’t believe how much I miss the dog, I have an actual framed picture of him on my windowsill!!

4. I have particular mugs for different beverages
Okay, so I have a thing where I can only drink certain drinks out of certain mugs, I’m not sure why and I can’t remember exactly when it started. I have a whole shelf at home just for my mugs because I have far too many. For example, I have certain mugs I drink tea and coffee out of, but I also have mugs that I drink fresh juice and milk out of. Is this weird? I’m not sure anymore!

5. I have an unnatural love for christmas
Christmas is by far my favourite time of year. I love the feeling of warmth and cheeriness that is everywhere during this time of year. Not to mention the music and the films that come along with it. And don’t even get me started on all the drinks and candles filled with cinnamon!! It makes me truly happy and I can’t help but smile when I’m somewhere and hear a christmas song. I won’t lie to you, if I were allowed I’d start celebrating in September but apparently that’s too early! But between you and me, I’d watched at least 3 christmas films and had fired up my christmas playlist over a month ago!!

SourcedBox – October 2016.

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
Another month, another SourcedBox. I won’t lie to you, I didn’t enjoy this months as much as last months but I enjoyed it all the same! There were some definite highlights, most notably the biscuits.

Organic Matcha Bar Cacao & Goji – Rawcha £35.79 (Box of 20)
I quite liked this one! You could really taste the goji berry in it which I loved! However there are other snack bars I prefer for, for example the Nakd bars. That being said, I’d quite like to try the other flavours and see what they are like too! This was by far my favourite snack bar in the box.
Raw Organic Coconut Mylk Dark Chocolate – Loving Earth £1.46 (30g)
I’m usually not a fan of dark chocolate but I really enjoyed this. The fact it was in the shape of a heart was cute too. I’m glad that it didn’t have a hugely overpowering taste of coconut milk because I don’t really enjoy the taste of it, that being said it had just enough to but through the bitterness that you usually get with dark chocolate.

Ooh-la-la Tea Biscuits Chocolate Hazelnut – Rhythm 108 £12 (Box of 12)
These may have been my favourite thing in the box this month. They were thin and crispy, and tasted amazing. They were definitely just right for a little snack dunked into tea as an afternoon pick me up.
The Pumpkin – Rude Health 99p
Now, I’m usually not a huge fan of pumpkin flavoured things but this I can get on board with. It was overpowering and as silly as it sounds, didn’t taste like a health bar. Sometimes you can get a health bar that you bite into and immediately know that you’re eating something good for you. But this was just flat out good that I didn’t care either way.
Vanilla Choc Chip Protein Snack – Pulsin £13.59 (case of 9)
So, this was supposedly meant to taste like cookie dough, however, I didn’t get that. It was too powdery for my liking and was very thick for a snack bar, I found. I really didn’t like this but after having a little browse on the website and seeing the other flavours, I’m quite keen to try some of the other ones.

West African Peanuts – Chika’s £7.75 (45g)
Now, I’m not a huge fan of peanuts, so I’m not really sure what the hype is with these but as far as I can tell they tasted quite nice for a bag of peanuts. I assume from the price and packaging that they are perhaps more expensive than your bog standard peanuts, but flavour wise I couldn’t taste the difference. That being said, I liked the clean cut design and packaging!
Popcorn Tomato Pesto – Nom £29.80 (20 bags)
I really liked these! I’ve been on a bit of a popcorn hype lately, it’s my go to snack but typically I just go for the normal salted variety. However, these are delicious. When I saw the flavour I really wasn’t sure and honestly, the smell wasn’t all too appetising either. But, I was pleasantly surprised with them. They are obviously more of a savoury snack and if I wanted to treat myself I’d be tempted to pick up these and I’m determined to try the other flavours to see if they are as good too.

Beetroot Velvet – Raw £4.45
Now, I didn’t eat these. Mainly because I absolutely can’t stand beetroot. If there was one food that I could erase from the entire world, it would be beetroot. Normally, I would try most anything, but even the smell of this put me off. If you’ve tried it, please do let me know and tell me if I need to get a grip and just try it because I’m missing out on something amazing!
Raw Bites Ginger & Spirulina – Bioglan £1.99
I’m sorry to say that I just couldn’t enjoy this. I liked the ginger part of it, and the fact that there were actual big chunks of Ginger in them but that’s about as far as it goes. The texture was odd to me and I didn’t particularly enjoy the smell or the flavour for that matter. I definitely won’t be picking these up again!
Cherry and Acai Drink – Cape £19.00 (Pack of 12)
Now I didn’t get a chance to try this because I left it in my mum’s fridge and now I’m back at uni. That being said, I can make a pretty good assumption that I would have liked it. I typically like drinks like this and the fact that they have a very subtle hint of flavour to them. However, I try not to drinks that are carbonated because they tend to upset my stomach. But I will still be trying this as soon as I go and visit my mum.

October Favourites.

Sainsbury’s Gluten Free Biscuits
These are an absolute god send. I’ve tried almost every gluten free type of biscuit I could get my hands on. The toffee ones especially are my favourite and it makes me sad that they’re only limited edition but I suppose that just means that I’ll have to stock up on them!!

I got these for my birthday at the beginning of the month and I have lived in them ever since. I love them so much, I’d forgotten how comfortable Converse were. These are the sort of trainers that I’ll keep in the box just to keep them extra safe. I feel like they are a bit smarter than my normal Puma’s or Nike’s, so I wear them if we have somewhere nice to go for dinner, I definitely don’t think these are the type of trainers to be running errands in. You can find them here.

Okay so I’ve been obsessed with this website. At first I joined just because I assumed thats what you did when you started a blog. And then I started to get into it and started following other people and now I check the app every morning to see whats been happening. I think this is such a great tool to keep up to date with peoples blogs and to find out about whats being posted and what the buzz is about.

Eating Gluten Free

This might be a weird one but I’ve been gluten free for almost two months for health reasons. At first I didn’t really think it was making much of a difference and I sort of struggled finding things that were GF that I actually enjoyed eating. However this month I’ve noticed a change. I don’t feel as bloated or heavy after eating and I just generally feel better in myself. Everyone will feel differently on a certain diet and someone else that eats a gluten free diet may not feel great. But for what I’m dealing with right now, I’ve found that not eating gluten means I’ve been able to eat more during meal times because I don’t get too full and I have less of an upset stomach, which is definitely a plus in my books.

I’m a big fan of herbal teas and have been for a few years now but I’ve been on the hunt for an exciting new flavour to mix things up a bit. (Yes, I consider mixing up my herbal tea flavours as exciting.) I happened to stumble across this in Morrisons’ along with another flavour which was rhubarb something or other, but I’m not a huge fan or rhubarb so decided to go down the sour cherry route. I love the fact that the colour of the tea matches the colour of the packaging and from what I’ve seen this is a theme throughout all the flavours. I think thats such a cute idea and honestly that had me hooked. I really like the flavour of this, it’s just the right amount of sour with just a hint of sweetness that comes through at the end. I can’t wait to try out the rest of the flavours in this range.
Greys’ Anatomy

So I wasn’t really sure how I felt about the last season of Greys’, a part of me felt like I was just watching it because I’d committed myself to the other 11 seasons so I had to watch the 12th and I ended up having a love/hate relationship with it. There were story lines and parts that I really enjoyed, like the April/Jackson storyline but some of the other bits felt forced and instead of sitting down for 40 minutes and engaging completely with it like I had before, I ended up just putting it on in the background and kind of tuning in and out randomly. However, after just the first episode of season 13 I’m back in love. It has the heart back that I felt it had lost and had a feel to it very reminiscent of the first few seasons which I loved. I love the focus on Alex and Meredith, and seeing how their friendship has evolved over the years into what it is today. I can’t wait for the rest of the season now, and will definitely be sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate and giving it my undivided attention.

Have I been telling absolutely everyone who would lend me an ear about how absolutely fantastic this new musical is? Yes, yes I have! I booked this back in November on a complete whim! Mostly because in the email I got, it was described as "part Mel Brooks, part Six, part Hamilton with a side order of One Man, Two Guvnors", and if that doesn't hook you I don't know what will! Other than the brief synopsis in the email, I went in blind, knowing nothing about the show, the music or the actors but man do I want to shout about them now.

Firstly, the Fortune Theatre felt like the perfect kind of venue for a show like this, surprisingly intimate and like you were actually involved in the action. From the very first song, I was hooked, I knew that I was in for a good one! The actors were all absolutely phenomenal, each one with comical timing that was absolutely on the money along with some fantastic pipes that were definitely easy on the ears. I laughed, I teared up, I didn't want it to end, everything from the music to the staging was absolute perfection if you ask me. @spitlip aren't a group I'd heard of before, but certainly won't be one I forget fast. I will absolutely without a single doubt be going to see this again before it closes, and only pray that it actually sticks around. Potentially the best new musical I've seen in a very, very long time! Go get your tickets now, old chap! ✌️
